Toronto FC joined Major League Soccer as an expansion franchise in 2007 and was the first Canadian team to join the previously all-American league. The club hasn't performed very well in its first two seasons, but has arguably the best fan support and best home-field atmosphere in the entire league. BMO Field is downtown Toronto's new jewel, and 20,000+ pack themselves in every home game to cheer on the hometown reds. Toronto FC has yet to qualify for the MLS Playoffs or appear in a Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup final. They were the favorites to represent Canada in the inagural CONCACAF Champions League but were upset by the USL-1's Montreal Impact. Due to the raging supporter clubs TFC has, tickets are extremely hard to get.
The reds are led by a few talented players such as striker Carlos Ruiz, defender Marvell Wynne, and captain midfielder Jim Brennan. Everything in Toronto appears as though it's looking up and the club should be a Major League Soccer contender very soon.
