FC Dallas is an original MLS club that joined the league as the Dallas Burn in 1996. The club was rebranded as FC Dallas in 2005. They are one of the most popular teams in the league and are one of few that are profitable at this time. The Hoops, as they are also known as, have seen limited success as a Major League Soccer franchise. Their victory in the 1997 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup is their lone piece of hardware. As the Burn, they played at the famous Cotton Bowl from 1996-2002, then moved to Southlake Carroll High School's Dragon Stadium for the 2003 season.

The club played 2 more seasons at the Cotton Bowl before their own soccer-specific stadium, Pizza Hut Park, opened in Frisco in 2005, which is when they were rebranded FC Dallas. Pizza Hut Park constantly sells out for matches and it is extremely hard to get a ticket for a match.
