FC Energie Cottbus is a German Bundesliga club based out of Cottbus, Brandenburg. The club was founded in 1966 and is currently the only team from East Germany to play in the Bundesliga. Energie has been on a roller coaster of promotion and relegation in recent years. After playing 3rd tier football for five consecutive seasons, they were promoted to the 2.Bundesliga in 1997. Three years later, they were granted entrance into the top flight Bundesliga. They were relegated back to the 2.Bundesliga in 2003 and couldn't make it back to the Bundesliga until 2006.

Energie currently plays in Stadion de Freundschaft in Cottbus. At 22,500 people, it's one of the smallest stadiums in the Bundesliga and therefore one of the hardest tickets to get. Energie is a smaller club but seems to be on the rise, and they play an entertaining style of football, so getting a ticket is recommended.
