The Chicago Fire were an MLS expansion team that was added in 1997. The club enjoyed early success, winning the MLS Cup in their very first season of existence, adding the U.S. Open Cup later that year. In total they have won 1 MLS Cup, 4 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cups, and 1 Supporters' Shield. The Fire are currently one of MLS' top teams, led by veteran strikers Chuautemoc Blanco and Brian McBride. Several United States international players have suited up for the Fire, including Eric Wynalda, DaMarcus Beasley, Carlos Bocanegra, and Justin Mapp.

The club played at the famous Soldier Field until they receiver a soccer-specific stadium of their own.
