America’s biggest holiday show is coming to a venue near you! The Radio City Christmas Spectacular is now offering presale tickets for its 2009 season and Yaytickets.com now has the best seats available for this glittering extravaganza featuring the New York City Rockettes.

This long-running Broadway show has dancing, music, a bit of circus and even ice skaters! As it opens, the Rockettes are in reindeer costumes, cavorting through a magical forest at the North Pole as Santa tries to corral them and hitch them to his sleigh for his Christmas deliveries. The show progresses through both old and new favorites, including Joy to the World, Here Comes Santa Claus and The Nutcracker Suite. The brilliantly choreographed Parade of the Wooden Soldiers has been a tradition of the show since 1933, along with The Living Nativity.

The show is so much fun partly because of the staging. The set is huge, requiring 34 trucks to carry all the components to it plus the special effects for the show. 13 buses are required to transport the cast and crew. It’s a surprisingly hi-tech production with parts of the stage rising from the floor and an LED screen measuring 25’ high by 65’ wide! Good use is made of the screen in setting the mood for Christmas in New York, particularly during a number that uses a real double-decker bus that the Rockettes dance upon while realistic scenes from New York play upon the screen. You’ll feel as if you’re actually taking a tour of the city with these beautiful dancers and all the fun characters in the show.
