People say you need to have both talent and determination to excel in a certain field. Romanian-Canadian boxer Leonard Dorin certainly has both. Began boxing at the age of 14, by the age of 16, with only two years of training, he won every Romanian national junior title. He won bronze medal when he was 22 at the 1992 Barcelona Summer Olympics and took home the same medal at the 1996 Atlanta Summer Olympics. He became the World amateur champion at lightweight in 1995 and was the European Champion for two consecutive years of 1996 and 1997. He closed his amateur career with amazing record of 239 victories and only 15 defeats.

His professional career started by signing in to a Canadian club in 1997. Five years later, on January 5 2002, he won his WBA World Lightweight title in a split decision against Argentinian boxer Raul Horacio Balbi. When the two met again in May 31 2002, the decision was unanimous for Dorin. His WBA title was stripped on October 24 2003 when he failed to make weight in a match against Miguel Callist.
